Hawaii Christmas

Mark and I had a great christmas break here in Hawaii! We where sad that we didn't get to go home but decided to make the best of it and treat it like a vacation. So we both got a week off of work so we could live it up and do all the fun things we hadn't had a chance to do yet!

We kicked it off with a fun day at Pearl Harbor! I have always wanted to go and it did not dissapoint.
We loved learning about what happened there.

The Arizona Memorial was cool to see, we could still see the oil in the water.
After Pearl Harbor we spent the night in Waikiki hot tubing and having a blast!

Mark surfed pipeline for the first time.

He was so excited to be surfing on these big waves, and it quickly became his new favorite surf spot.

He made me a little nervous dropping in on 5 foot waves, but I am proud of him for being so passionate about surfing, and for picking it up so quickly1!

We had dinner at our favorite restaurant Kahuku Grill.

We did a beautiful hike called Sacred Falls. Unfortunately  I forgot my camera so I had to snatch this picture off the internet and it does not do it justice. It had been raining alot when we went so the waterfall was twice as big! Mark swam under it and I got in the water, which is a big accomplishment for me.

We spent the next two nights going to see Chronicles of Narnia, Tangled and just loving on the Chilis two for twenty deal!
It was so fun to be out doing a date night that we wouldn't normaly get to do. Thanks to both our parents giving us money for a date night we got to do it twice, so thanks guys!

On christmas eve we layed out at the beach all day then came home and I cooked my first ham. It turned out so yummy and I was so proud off myself!

This is our delicious christmas eve meal. We had a wonderful christmas eve, we skyped our families and wrapped a few presents for each other. We got each other a few suprises and had so much fun shopping for each other.

We ended up getting really spoiled.

Mark got this sweet LA Dodgers jacket from Michelle and Nate. He loves it so much and wears it all the time!

Christmas day was very nice as well we had chocolate chip banana pancakes for breakfast and it was so good we decided it needed to become a tradition. We spent our christmas day skyping our families, playing Wii, and having dinner with my cousins. We also got to play Kinect at their house and I am now addicted to the dance central game!!

We went to electric beach with the promise of seeing dolphins and did not get lucky.
This side of the island is very different from the north shore, this beach was so dirty.

I think its safe to say that we wont be going back there anytime soon!

This is another crazy thing we saw on that side of the island, we named it tarpville. It was very sad there was a whole community of people living in poverty. Sleeping under tarps and having tents as their homes.

We couldn't believe what we where seeing and felt bad for all of these people.
We did this hike called Crouching Lion! It was basically rockclimbing the whole way up and sliding on our hands and feet in mud the whole way down.

The views from the top where breathtaking and very worth the climb.

We finally did Diamond Head and it was pretty cool. It is different then the hikes we are used to but very worth seeing. This is waikiki and it was a foggy day so its a little blurry.

This is Haunama Bay, this is where all the tourists usually go to go snorkeling. It was very beautiful but we still like sharks cove better!

This is the whale lookout we didn't see any but we still loved how beautiful this side of the island was!

It wouldn't be christmas break without eating out again!

We had a fun filled day off kayaking.

We started off at chinamans hat, we kayacked all around it. There are supposed to be sharks out there but we didn't see any.

After chinamans hat our camera got left behind so it wouldn't get wet but we had many more adventures.
We Kayacked up a river back into this valley and Mark found a tire swing to swing into the water on. He loved it and turned right into a little boy swinging on it! After that we took the kayak out on some waves, we started at castles because they where smaller waves. We then took it to Haleiwa and rode some 4-6 footers. It was wild and I was really nervous at first but I can now see why Mark loves to surf so much, we also got to watch the sunset out on the water and it was so beautiful. Thanks Brett, Wendy, Liam and Jessica for letting us borrow your Kayak for the day it was amazing!

We spent New Years eve with friends in Waikiki.

We started out on the beach.

Then went to our favorite restaurant.

Dukes!!!!

Us and our friends at dinner.

After dinner we snuck into a classy hotel and spent a few hours hot tubing and laying by the pool in the cozy beach chairs!

It was a very relaxing evening!

We ended the night on the beach for fireworks.

Fireworks over the ocean are very cool!

On new years day we did nothing but lay at the beach all day!

I did get a little bored and started to bury Mark in sand!
Overall it was one of the best christmas breaks we have ever had and we are so happy we had this time to be together.

Goodbye 2010 it was a great year!!!
